Aicok Slow Masticating Cold Press Juicer Machine
Aicok Slow Masticating Cold Press Juicer Machine
Well for starters, a cold press juicer, also known as a masticating juicer, a slow juicer or a low speed juicer, is simply a type of juicer that operates at low speeds and uses a masticating process to separate the juice from the flesh of the fruits and vegetables being juiced.
Another type of juicer you may have heard of is a centrifugal juicer, as opposed to a cold press juicer, a centrifugal juicer uses blades spinning at high speeds to separate the juice from the flesh of the fruits and vegetables being juiced.
Both types of juicers will do a great job extracting fresh juice and both have their upsides and their downsides. However, a cold pressed juice machine is typically the better choice, at least for those looking for the healthiest juice possible.
Why is a Cold Press Juicer the Best Choice?
As mentioned, both centrifugal juicers and cold press masticating juicers do a good job juicing both fruits and vegetables however a cold pressed juice machine produces a much healthier juice than juice from centrifugal juicers. The main reason for this is the slow speeds that cold press juicers operate at.
Masticating juicers typically operate at speeds of 80 rpm’s (speeds will vary some between different cold press juicer models), compare this to the 14,000 rpm’s that the best selling Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 700-Watt Juice Extractor operates at.
Why Does Juicer Speed Matter?
There are two reasons that the operating speed of a juicer matters, first the fast spinning blades of a centrifugal juicer introduces more air into the juice which causes oxidation to occur more quickly. As oxidation occurs nutrients contained in the juice begin to break down thus it is best to avoid oxidation. Additionally, the high speeds of a centrifugal juicer cause more heat than a cold press juicer which produces very little if any heat. Heat causes oxidation to occur more rapidly.
Heat and air flow are the two biggest reasons that juice from a cold pressed juice machine is much more healthier than the juice produced with a centrifugal juicer. Please note that I am not saying that juice from a centrifugal juicer is unhealthy or that you can not get the benefits of juicing from a centrifugal juicer, just that a cold press juicer produces a much healthier juice.
Additional Benefits of a Cold Press Juicer
Additionally, when compared to a centrifugal juicer, a cold press masticating juicer will produce quite a bit more juice from the same amount of fruits and vegetables. This means that using a cold pressed juice machine will allow you to save money by purchasing less fresh produce to juice.
Another problem with using high speed spinning blades to extract juice is again the air introduced into the juice. Not only does this cause oxidation as already mentioned but it has the added effect of causing your juice to foam up.
One benefit of many cold press juicers has nothing to do with juicing. Many masticating cold pressed juicers have the ability to make different types of foods such as pasta, rice cakes, baby foods and nut butters to name a few. Typically the juicer models that can accomplish these tasks cost a little more than the cheap juicers you can find today however the added functions can more than make up for the price.
Cold press juice extractors tend to be a bit more quiet than centrifugal juicers. The excess noise produced by a centrifugal juicer may not be a problem for some but if you live in an apartment or like to juice early in the morning when the rest of your family is asleep you may end up with some angry neighbors or family members.
Downsides to Using a Cold Press Juice Extractor
Although there are now a number of cold press juicers that are smaller in size, many models are still a bit bulky, especially the models that can double as a food processor. This can be a downside if you are limited on space. However you can find some very space saving cold pressed juice extractor these days for a very reasonable price.
The masticating process of a cold press juicer and the low speeds used typically make juicing with a cold press juice extractor a little more time consuming than when using a centrifugal juicer. Clean up can also be a little more difficult and time intensive. This is especially true with models that double as a food processor.
Price can be a factor when choosing to use a cold press juicer instead of a centrifugal juicer, well at least it used to be. The fact is these days you can find cheap juicers under $100 both centrifugal and cold press, on the other hand, you can also find both type of juicers costing over $300. The price between the two has really become comparable, however take note that you will find some cold pressed masticating juicers costing over $1000 and you won’t find any centrifugal juicer costing near that amount.
One place that centrifugal juicers have the upper hand is juicing softer fruits. Many if not most masticating juicers don’t do as good a job juicing softer fruits as a centrifugal juicer does. On the other hand slow masticating juicers will typically do a much better job juicing leafy greens, harder fruits and vegetables and wheat grass.
The Aicok Slow Masticating Cold Press Juicer Machine – Just Another Cheap Juicer?
The Aicok slow masticating cold pressed juicer is not just another cheap juicer although it can be purchased for under $100. However this “cheap juicer” may be inexpensive but is certainly not cheap (although it does look a little cheap).
So what makes this little juicer worth looking at (besides the low price)? This Aicok cold press juicer performs actually quite well with most fruits and vegetables including wheat-grass, carrots and ginger root. It does seem to have some difficulty with extremely hard vegetables such as beets although it does get the job done.
When it comes to the dryness of the pulp we can’t say that we have seen any juicer produce a dryer pulp, many that do just as well but this cold press juicer definitely stands up to any high end juicer. When it comes to the quantity of juice once again this Aicok slow juicer does an impressive job and would definitely compete with more expensive juicers.
We mentioned that the Aicok cold press juicer does look a little cheap however this is not uncommon with less expensive juicers. This cold pressure juicer, like many other cheap juicers as well as more expensive juicers is made mainly from plastic.
This doesn’t mean that the Aicok slow masticating juicer doesn’t perform well, on the contrary this is a very impressive juicer, especially for the price.
